New Year, New You! Start Your Year With Renewed Energy & A Clean House

Happy New Year! Have you made your resolutions yet? Lose 20kg by Easter? Eat salads for every meal for a month? Start going to the gym 5 times a week? How about something a little more simple like giving your house a big clean up? We can’t help you with the first two options, but with a clean house you’ll feel more energised, which may help motivate you to eat those salads and hit the gym. Here are some the cleaning tasks you need to tackle in January to get your new year started the right way.

Do A Deep Clean

The best place to start is a deep clean of all your dirty surfaces. Hit the kitchen and the bathrooms with some heavy duty disinfectant cleaner and a scrubber and make it shine like the fireworks on New Year’s Eve. Make sure you get stuck into all the crevices and cracks, and remove any mould that might harm your health throughout the year.

Get Organised

Start by cleaning out your cupboards and wardrobes and throwing away anything that you haven’t used or worn for the past 12 months. Given it’s summer, why not store all your winter clothes away in handy storage boxes or vacuum seal bags to save space and clutter. And tidy up your kitchen cupboards, throwing away any dishes that don’t have lids – and visa versa. While you’re getting organised, why not sort your cupboards and drawers so that you have all your items in the right place – and somewhere they are easy to find. Cutlery in the top drawer, tea towels in the bottom drawer, and so on.

Move Things Around

They say a change is as good as a holiday but there’s no reason you can’t enjoy both. Once you’re done with the cleaning and organisation, change your furniture around for a fresh beginning. You might move the living room to the lounge room, and the lounge room to the dining room ... or simply mix up your furniture a bit so that you’re stepping into a cleaner, fresher looking home.

Give Yourself A Clean Too

We mean this in two ways – first, have yourself a nice long bath. Add some bubbles and bath bombs, maybe some rose petals for elegance (you can always clean the bath afterwards with an antibacterial wipe). Wash your hair, shave your legs, and so on so you’re feeling fresh and ready to embrace the new you.

Next, give your mind a break – turn off your tech as this will help give you renewed energy. Focus on yourself more and others less! Self-care is one of the most important things to do for yourself – and if you start out the year right, you’ll have a better year all round. A clean mind is just as important as a clean home and a great start to the new year, new you.

When you’re ready to get started, head to Clean HQ to stock up on your cleaning supplies, then turn up your music and get cleaning.
