How Often Should You Clean Your Home?

Most of us don’t like cleaning. It’s time consuming, it feels too much like work, except we’re not getting paid for it! Unfortunately, though, it’s something we have to do – and we have to do it regularly. The good news, though, is that it’s a lot easier to get the job done if you keep on top of things.

A chore schedule is a great way to keep you on track, so we thought we’d help you out. With the following checklist, you’ll know what to clean and when – so it won’t feel like such a chore.

Kitchen

  • You should clean kitchen counters down as needed. Every time you use a surface to prepare something, you should wipe it down after. Clean as you go is the best way to operate in a kitchen.

Quarterly Cleaning

There are plenty of big-ticket items that only need cleaning once a quarter.

  • Oven
  • Dishwasher
  • Pillows
  • Clean/replace all filters
  • Dust walls and ceilings
  • Dust and clean light shades
  • Wash outdoor furniture
  • Steam clean carpets
  • Deep clean areas like pantries and cupboards
  • Move large appliances to clean the area underneath and behind.
  • Rotate/flip mattresses
  • Deep clean shower heads
  • Descale relevant appliances
  • Vacuum exhaust fans and filters
  • Dust books
  • Deep clean cabinets, bookcases, and side tables.

Certain items should be addressed bi-annually. This includes the gutters, which should be cleaned in autumn and spring. Your HVAC system should be serviced in winter and summer. There are a couple of annual tasks to schedule as well. If you have a fireplace, this should be cleaned in spring, and you should have the chimney inspected in autumn. Additionally, have upholstered furniture shampooed or steam cleaned.

There’s so much to do with your cleaning, but with the right products from CleanHQ and the right mindset, you’ll have a spotless home all year round!
