Organise Your Bathroom Like A Pro

Considering it’s the one place in the home where we go in dirty and come out clean, there’s no wonder our bathrooms end up looking a little worse for wear. But it’s not the dirt and grime that’s always causing an issue – it’s the mess we leave behind. From our linen to our razors, makeup, and self-care products, bathrooms are filling up faster than ever with new technologies and old habits. The problem with this is that when you really need something, like a pair of nail clippers, you can’t find them. That’s why keeping your bathroom organised is so important.

To help, we’ve come up with the following tips for how to organise your bathroom like a pro!

Step One: Assess The Situation

Take a look at what you have in the bathroom that you don’t need to have in the bathroom. Check your drawers, cabinets, baskets and shelves and sort through these, throwing away anything that you haven’t touched in the last six months. Check your expiries as well, you’re likely to find products that have expired years ago. And remove any items that shouldn’t actually be in the bathroom, such as kid’s toys.

Empty your cupboards completely – it’s going to be much easier to organise everything if you’re starting from scratch. And put anything you don’t want in the bin.

Step Two: Clean It Up

Now that you’ve removed everything, it’s time to give your bathroom a good clean. Start by vacuuming the cupboards out to get rid of any dust and hair that may have accumulated over time. Next, get your cleaning cloths and solution together. If you find lots of old stains (such as rust from old hairspray), you might want to use a scrubber as well. Once clean, let it dry, then you might consider adding contact paper or a liner to prevent staining the cabinet wood in future.

Step Three: Organise

Now it’s time to get organised. Here are some of our top tips:

Allocate a specific theme for each drawer. For example, use your top drawer for your hair products, the second drawer for makeup and the third drawer for other bits and pieces. Categories may include:

  • Face care
  • Hair styling products and tools
  • Dental
  • Shower supplies (soaps and body wash, shampoo and conditioner)
  • Make up
  • Lotions
  • Feminine products
  • Nail care
  • First aid
  • Medicines

Or you could simply use your top drawer for the items you use every day, the second drawer for not-so-regular items, and so on. The goal is to save you time hunting for everything in the morning rush, so do whatever works for you.

Step Four: Put It Away

Now it’s time to work out how you’re going to put it all away again. Use drawer dividers so you can separate items within the drawers and put them into specific categories. If something doesn’t fit, find another spot for it.

Silicone holders from Holster Brands are a great idea and can be placed strategically around the bathroom to hold any items you don’t want in your cupboards, but don’t have space for on the bench. They are heat resistant as well, so you can even put your hair straightener in them.

Hooks are another great way to give you more storage space and you can install these along your bathroom wall or the back of the door to hang your towels, linen, even electrical appliances from. And of course, don’t be afraid to load up on the baskets – they will help you find everything you need without having to rummage through the cupboards.

Congratulations! With these tips, your bathroom should now look amazing. Which room is next? The choice is yours, but you want to find out more about our amazing cleaning products, check out our online store.
