How to get rid of Limescale

Is the build up of limescale in your bathroom keeping you up at night?

We all know the problem… That crusty white growth that forms around your taps, on shower screens and even the toilet.

Yep, that’s limescale.

Limescale is a calcium compound that forms on surfaces that come into repeated contact with mineral rich, hard water.

While technically not harmful to you or your family, it’s certainly an ugly issue that we want to address before it gets too out of hand.

How to Clean Limescale Naturally

When it comes to cleaning limescale in the bathroom, you should always start by trying some simple home remedies.

Start with some lemon juice, before then grabbing the vinegar and baking soda from the panty.

This trio is an anti-limescale dream team and will get the job done in most well maintained bathrooms.

Method 1 - Lemon Juice

When it comes to using lemon juice to remove limescale, the process is easy.

Just pour your juice or concentrate onto our favourite scratch free sponge, the Scrub Daddy and wipe over any glass surfaces such as shower screens or counter tops.

Leave the lemon juice to sit for a few minutes and then rinse it all away with water.

Method 2 - Vinegar

If you’re looking for a natural solution that’s just a little stronger, dilute white vinegar with water in a 50/50 solution and pour it into a fresh spray bottle.

If you picked up a Scrub Daddy 4 pack, grab a fresh colour coded sponge and clean inside your sinks, plus around the edges of your toilet.

Again, let the solution sit before rinsing the vinegar and limescale grit away with water.

Method 3 - Baking Soda

If lemon juice and vinegar still aren’t enough to cut through tough limescale on taps and metal surfaces, it’s time to bring out the baking soda.

Mix in a little water until you have a thick, paste like substance to smear and let sit in all the tough to reach places.

Rinse and wipe clean.

How to Remove Stubborn Limescale

But while home remedies are a great place to start, there are going to be times when you need to step up your cleaning game.

When it comes to pesky limescale build up, there are certain bathroom cleaning jobs that require the right choice of cleaning product to get the job done.

Method 4 - The Pink Stuff Miracle Bathroom Foam Cleaner

Keeping your bathroom clean from limescale build up is easy with The Pink Stuff Foam Cleaner.

The miracle foam cleaner both removes and prevents limescale, while the non-drip formulation always ensures a sparkling, streak-free finish.

Don’t forget when using any chemical cleaning products such as this, be sure to open all windows and ensure the bathroom is well ventilated.

From here simply spray the foam cleaner directly onto the surface, leave for a few seconds and then wipe it all away with a damp sponge.

Armed with these 4 methods of getting rid of limescale, your bathroom is ready to sparkle.
